Review

In the 14th book of Geronimo Stilton’s Graphic Novel Series, The First Mouse on the Moon, Geronimo and his family are faced with a critical mission of intercepting the evil plot of the pirate cats. The pirate cats have crafted a time traveling plan to steal the spaceship technology from the Apollo 11 Moon Landing in 1969. It is up to the Stilton’s to foil their plan so that they do not get their paws on this information and increase their malicious power. The book is peppered throughout with factoids about the Apollo 11 Mission and the first people to land on the moon. It is a fun and entertaining way to learn about history through the Stilton’s cat and mouse chase in space. Cousin Trap provides the comic relief in the high-pressure moments with his silliness and insatiable love for cheese. Geronimo Stilton is the Pseudonym for Elisabetta Dami, an Italian author who lives in Milan. Her work is translated from Italian into English by Nanette McGuinness. The book first came out in 2013 and was published by BAO Publishing. This review is based off of a reading of the physical copy where Ennio Bufi’s illustrations help bring the story to life in a colorful and vibrant way that catches the attention of the reader.
